Rebecca Carter, MA, MFT Intern

As a strong believer in the idea that each person has intrinsic value and worth, I long for a world where each person is treated with dignity and respect. Unfortunately this is not always the case. In our communities, in the workplace, and in our relationships, we are at times disregarded, dismissed, disenfranchised, or degraded. In these circumstances, or as we begin to process through such circumstances, we need someone to listen, encourage, and remind us that we have value as an individual. The presence and support of another may come from a family member, a trusted friend, or a counselor. As Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, I recognize that it takes courage to seek outside assistance and therefore it is my hope that as you enter into this process, you discover that counseling can be a safe and encouraging environment where you can process the difficulties you are enduring and begin to experience a renewed sense of hope.
